Chamber Welcomes Humorist and Author Debbie Childers for June Meeting
Greater Odenville Chamber of Commerce Welcomes Nationally Recognized Humorist and Author Debbie Childers for June Meeting
The Greater Odenville Chamber of Commerce welcomed members and guests to its June 4 Chamber Meeting held at Christ Church Branch Cove, featuring special guest speaker Debbie Childers, nationally recognized speaker, humorist, and author.
Chamber President Megan Graham opened the meeting by welcoming attendees and sharing Chamber updates before introducing Childers, whose presentation quickly had the audience laughing and reminiscing about life in small-town Alabama.
Drawing from her personal experiences and hometown roots, Childers shared humorous stories and observations about local people and situations familiar to many in attendance. Her warm storytelling style, quick wit, and relatable humor created an enjoyable and memorable program for Chamber members and guests alike.
Childers is a sought-after speaker, humorist, and author who often jokes that throughout her school years she was frequently reprimanded for talking too much, yet today she is invited to do it professionally. In 2018, she was named the winner of the Jeanne Robertson National Comedy Contest, a prestigious recognition honoring excellence in family-friendly humor and storytelling.
She and her husband, Tim, recently retired and returned to her hometown, where they remain busier than ever. Together they have two grown children, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren who continue to provide endless stories and inspiration for her presentations.
"We appreciate Debbie for sharing her time and talents with our Chamber," said Megan Graham, President of the Greater Odenville Chamber of Commerce. "Her ability to connect with people through humor and storytelling made for a wonderful program and a great afternoon of fellowship."
Another highlight of the meeting was a Marketing Moment shared by Dona Bonnett, owner of adr Business & Marketing Strategies. Bonnett shared marketing ideas that included cross-promotions and Member Perks. She also mentioned the addition of Small Business Tuesdays on the Chamber’s social media this year.
The Greater Odenville Chamber of Commerce extends its appreciation to Christ Church Branch Cove for hosting the meeting and for their continued support of the Chamber and local business community. The Chamber also would like to thank Butts To Go for providing a delicious lunch.
The Chamber will not hold a regular membership meeting in July. The next Chamber meeting is scheduled for Thursday, August 6, 2026, and will feature Brandy Turner, SBDC Business Advisor with the Jacksonville State University College of Business & Industry. Turner will provide valuable information and resources available to assist entrepreneurs, small businesses, and growing companies throughout the region. Turner will also share information on a new partnership with the Chamber and how she will be able to bring services to Odenville.
