Greater Odenville Chamber Hosts Successful May Meeting Featuring Local Candidates and First Teacher of the Year Presentation
The Greater Odenville Chamber of Commerce welcomed a strong crowd of local business leaders, community members, elected officials, and guests to its May 7 Chamber Meeting held at Christ Church Branch Cove in Odenville.
The Chamber extends sincere appreciation to Christ Church Branch Cove for graciously hosting the event and to Taco Mama for providing lunch for attendees.
The meeting was opened by Greater Odenville Chamber of Commerce President Megan Graham, who welcomed attendees and emphasized the Chamber’s continued commitment to supporting the local business community while encouraging civic engagement and community involvement.
A highlight of the program included introductions from several local political candidates currently seeking office in upcoming elections. Each candidate was given three minutes to introduce themselves and share information regarding their campaign and goals for the community. The Greater Odenville Chamber of Commerce does not endorse political candidates or campaigns, and the event was presented strictly as a community service opportunity to encourage civic engagement and provide attendees with an opportunity to meet and hear from local candidates.
Candidates participating in the program included:
- St. Clair County School Board
- Greg Cobb
- Allison Gray
- St. Clair County Commission Chairman
- Stan Batemon
- Dave Thomas
- St. Clair County Commission
- Katrina Hennings
- Adam Pardue
- Shane Thomas
- State Representative District 50
- Bill Morris
- Bryan Newell
Also in attendance, though not formally included in the program, were:
- Kathryn Burke, candidate for State School Board and current St. Clair County Circuit Clerk
- Terri LaPoint, candidate for U.S. Congress District 3
Both candidates introduced themselves and greeted attendees during the meeting.
Another special highlight of the event was the presentation of the first-ever Greater Odenville Chamber of Commerce Teacher of the Year Award. The honor was presented to Colleen Hornsby, 9th Grade English Teacher at St. Clair County High School.
St. Clair County High School Principal James Sims introduced Hornsby and shared details regarding her outstanding performance, dedication to students, and the reasons she was nominated for the award. Hornsby was presented with a commemorative plaque along with a $500 award from the Chamber.
“The Chamber is proud to recognize the educators who make a lasting difference in the lives of our students and community,” said Chamber representatives. “Ms. Hornsby’s passion and dedication exemplify the impact great teachers have every day.”
The Greater Odenville Chamber of Commerce invites the community to attend its next Chamber Meeting scheduled for Thursday, June 4, featuring special guest speaker Debbie Childers, Speaker, Humorist, and Author.
